Nobody Doesn’t Like S’mores
Whether it’s around a campfire, BBQ grill, fireplace or backyard fire pit, there’s nothing quite like the taste of S’mores
The origins of the famous graham cracker sandwich treat is not exactly known, but the earliest “official” recipe appeared in “Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts” way back in 1927. S’mores even have their own “holiday” which is August 10 every year.
For even more S’mores making fun, here are some of Media Camping Center staffs' favorite recipes:
Don likes the basic recipe: Semi-sweet chocolate squares, a large marshmallow between graham crackers squares heated on the campfire until the chocolate melts and the marshmallow is nice and gooey. Yum!
Dennis’ favorite: spread chucky peanut butter on the crackers then add chocolate and marshmallow.
Bobbie prefers Banana S’mores. Just add a slice of banana above and below the marshmallow.
Joe likes “Merry Berry S’mores.” Poke a hole in the center of the marshmallow and insert a fresh strawberry—or your favorite jam.
Joanne’s favorite: place mini-peanut butter cup under the marshmallow.
Brian calls his favorite the “You Must Be Nuts" S’more. Push peanuts into the marshmallow before cooking. This also works well with chocolate chips, raisins, M&Ms, caramels, or Hershey’s Kisses.
And there’s a handy little gadget that’s a cinch for making S’mores around the campfire even more fun for the young and young at heart. It’s a S’mores maker that let’s you cook three of the delicious treats at a time. It's available in our store, and we think it’s something that belongs on every RV camping trip!
