RV Camping in State Parks

If you like getting closer to nature while enjoying the comforts of RV camping, you might consider camping in a state park. Many state parks throughout the U.S. have sites suitable for RV camping.

Facilities vary from state to state and park to park, and some have rules and restrictions that differ from private campgrounds. For instance, some prohibit pets, or RVs over a certain size. Some states also prohibit alcohol consumption.

While we have come to expect full hook-ups, modern facilities and lots of amenities at private campgrounds, camping at a state park is usually a bit more rustic. Some do not have water and sewer hook-ups, although there’s usually a dump station and water source (some even have hand pumps!) It’s a good idea to research the park you want to camp at and know what conveniences there are before heading down the road so you'll know what to expect.

Reservations are required most state parks, and since camping fees are usually quite reasonable, sites fill up fast. So plan your outing well in advance.
